APoundToAThousand is a hobby, investment and experiment. The English football leagues present weekly entertainment for a significant chunk of the year, with literally thousands of games, all interesting in their own right. No other country in the world holds such an extraordinary and competitive system like ours, churning out goals and thrills, hammerings and upsets every week with excellent consistency.
The gambling aspect of the site asks the questions 'is a manual accumulator a more reliable method of betting?' Every weekend tends to be a good weekend for British bookmakers; the football accumulator is a task of prediction few can get right consistently. Perhaps this is down to luck (which gambling will always ultimately be affected by), but perhaps it is simply impatience. Most people would like to think they could predict one correct winner every weekend, and most probably do. When the bet adds more teams the payout gets larger and so does the chance of losing. Many people out there can say 'I was one team off, I called these games right,' but that makes no difference: the bet's lost.
But that got me wondering; what if I only needed to call one game right? What if I created a 'manual accumilator' over the weeks, not having to pick shakier teams due to impatience with the fixture list. Just one game a week correct, and soon a 1000-1 accumulator will be in my hands.
